The folks at Fido Festival USA are going for a world record attempt for the most canine couples in a wedding ceremony next weekend during the Tropical Pooch Paradise at the Salem County Fairgrounds in Woodstown, NJ. The dates of the festival are August 28-30, but the world record setting pooch wedding ceremony is being held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2 pm.

Should your dog be single they have a website where you can find your best friend the perfect mate. Check out Pooch Partners for more information or to find a match for your single canine so they can join in on the fun. There will even be a celebrity canine couple tying the knot.

Besides hopefully breaking a world’s record you and your pup can win some nice prizes. Each wedding participant’s owner will be entered to win great prizes like these:

Harrah’s Entertainment will provide two (2) nights accommodation at one of their Atlantic City properties and dinner for two (2) at one of their gourmet restaurants.

Let us introduce you to Shawnee (twitter user: @ShawneeShep), Shawnee is a German Shepherd who was a rescue and she now helps out her humans with other foster animals. Most recently they found forever homes for two abandoned guinea pigs named Thelma and Louise. She shares her hiking trips and other adventures with us on her blog as well.
