Our company motto, DogToys.com: Because Every Dog Needs Dog Toys, has an even deeper meaning when you apply it to our Toys for Pets Program.

DogToys.com is going into its 15th holiday season and since the beginning we have offered our customers the opportunity to help dogs waiting in shelters and rescues across the country get toys and treats. For many of these dogs they have never had a toy before the box from DogToys.com arrives at the shelters door.

We now offer you several choices in our Toys for Pets Program. You can simply add a single toy or treat to your order and we pull the item aside and send it out with our regular shipments or you can send a gift pack to any shelter of your choosing.  The gift packs are at a greatly reduced price over regular retail (but of course you can still send your shelter any of our items through out the store). Due to the reduce prices we do ask for shipping charges on the items going to your shelters, but we do not add any additional shipping on your order if you add one of the single donation items (we take care of the shipping on those items).

While the holidays do offer the greatest gift giving opportunities, our Toys for Pets Program is running year round!

If you know a shelter or a rescue group that could benefit from our program please have them stop by our website for more information and an application.

Here are just some of the shelters we have sent toys and treats to in the past few weeks. Thank you for helping us to help them.

Thanks to everyone who donated for making the lives of these animals a little brighter until they find that forever home.

DOG FRIENDLY iPHONE APP SHOWS YOU WHERE WET NOSES ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

Comprehensive mobile application helps pet parents travel easily with their dogs

TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA — September 27, 2011 — iLoveDogFriendly.com, a premiere web site for dog-friendly travel and information, has become mobile with the launch of Dog Friendly, an app for iPhone.

Now pet parents can access the most up-to-date information about the dog-friendliest establishments in town or on the go, powered by iLoveDogFriendly.com and its parent, iLoveDogs.com.

More and more pet parents are bringing their pooches along when they travel. However, the Automobile Association of America (AAA) reports that 38 percent of them say it’s difficult to find dog-friendly businesses. The Dog Friendly iPhone app quickly and easily solves that problem, putting more than 18,000 wet nose-welcoming hotels, restaurants, parks, beaches, boutiques, campgrounds and more right at pet parents’ fingertips.

“We’ve been amazed at the response the iLoveDogFriendly.com site has gotten from users,” says Martha Smith, general manager of i Love Dogs, Inc. “There’s definitely a need for a resource that helps pet parents locate dog-friendly travel accommodations and businesses for their excursions. The iPhone app will make it even easier for them to locate and share valuable information about dog-friendly establishments across North America.”

With the new Dog Friendly app—available now on iTunes—pet parents simply type a city, state or zip code to find the nearest dog-friendly businesses or to look for the latest doggie traveling tips. Plus, with seamless Google Maps integration and easy share features, Dog Friendly helps dog lovers quickly find and broadcast these pawsome places to their Facebook and Twitter social networks, and check in to dog-friendly locations on Foursquare directly from the app.

Pet retailers have much to gain from this new app, too. All retailers who carry the i Love Dogs line of natural vitamins and supplements for dogs get a complimentary premium feature on both the iPhone app and iLoveDogFriendly.com.

Luckily for pet parents, hundreds of businesses across the United States and Canada are adopting dog-friendly policies. The Dog Friendly app ensures that the days when the family pooch stayed behind while his “pack” enjoyed the big, beautiful world are long dog-gone.

We just wanted to share with you another one of the wonderfully heartwarming foster stories we have been receiving through our dog foster survey.

Rainbow was rescued from a puppymill with 27 fractures in her back and a disintegrating spine. She was paralyzed, yet still being forced to breed despite being in tremendous pain. People all over the world contributed money for her vet care and prayed for her recovery. In the care of Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas (www.ddrtx.org) Rainbow made a miraculous recovery and now feels and acts like a typical dog. Watching Rainbow and helping her recover was an amazing foster experience.

Kyla of Happy Tails Books shared one of her fostering stories with us.

Jay Jay was a crazy foster dog who liked to put rocks on your leg and gnaw on them. He was nuts about toys, as you can see in this video…

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND DONATIONS!

We will try to keep you updated more often on who and where your donations are going to.
